Netscape 2.01 Bookmarks

Creating a Bookmark

2 - Locate the Web page that you want to bookmark (you can type in the URL if you know it or use a search engine to find it).
3 - Choose Bookmarks in the Netscape menu bar.
4 - Choose Add Bookmarks. Your bookmark will be added to the current Bookmarks list.

Using Bookmarks

2 - Your created bookmarks will be listed. Point to and click on the desired bookmark with your mouse. You can keep an eye on the status bar in the lower left corner and note that the URL associated with the bookmark is called.

Saving Bookmarks to Drive A:
Normally, Netscape will automatically save your bookmark file on the hard disk of your computer. However, in our computer lab we have a different setup. The bookmark file will be cleared after each logon session. For this reason, we save our bookmarks on a diskette provided at the class. Each time we come to class we will load the bookmark file from the diskette, not the hard drive.
1 - Load Netscape (if it isn't already loaded).
2 - Create any bookmarks as described above.
3 - Place a formatted disk into drive A: on your PC.
4 - Choose Bookmarks in the Netscape menu bar.
5 - Choose Go To Bookmarks.
6 - Click on File on the menu bar in the the Bookmarks dialog box.
7 - Choose Save As on the menu bar.
8 - More than likely, the Drives location will indicate drive C:. Click on the drop down button in the Drives area, scroll up, then click on drive A:.
9 - In the upper left hand corner of the Save bookmarks file dialog box, drag through the current filename with your mouse and delete it.
10 - Type in the desired filename. (Don't use more than eight characters unless you are running under Windows 95.)
11 - Click the OK button.
12 - To leave the Bookmarks dialog box, choose the File menu in that dialog box.
13 - Click Close. Your bookmark file is now saved on the diskette and can be loaded into the next Netscape session.

Loading a Bookmark File from Drive A:
